An interactive globe where every point is a real historical event. Browse events by era, place and theme, then permanently claim or gift one: your name and a short note recorded next to that moment, plus a certificate. One holder per event. A symbolic keepsake, or an unusual gift.
Hi Product Hunt. I'm the maker of Datestone
I built Datestone because I liked ideas like naming stars or similar digital
Every point is a real event - the first vaccination, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the raising of the moai on Rapa Nui. You browse by era, place and theme, and you can permanently dedicate one: a name, a short note, a certificate emailed as a PDF so it outlasts the site. One holder per event. It's symbolic, framed the way naming a star is - not ownership. Genocides and recent atrocities stay on the map but are never for sale.
Under the hood it's deliberately small: one Node process, no build step, SQLite. The data is a Wikidata importer (typed queries, a notability floor by cross-wiki coverage) plus ~470 events I curated by hand, because geolocated-and-dated Wikidata skews heavily to war and disaster.
Would love feedback on the globe itself (point density at 12k is a hard problem), the event selection, and whether the gift angle lands. Happy to answer anything.
