DataZen is an open-source desktop database client that brings natural-language SQL, AI-assisted diagnostics, EXPLAIN analysis, charts, reusable workflows, and MCP into one local-first workspace. Built with Tauri and Rust for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Hi Product Hunt! I built DataZen because database work increasingly involves more than writing SQL. We inspect schemas, diagnose errors, analyze execution plans, visualize results, automate recurring operations, and connect databases to AI agents.
DataZen brings those workflows together in a lightweight, local-first desktop application. It supports natural-language SQL with schema context, AI error diagnosis, visual EXPLAIN analysis, charts, YAML workflows, MCP server/client modes, and an extensible driver architecture.
DataZen is free, open source, and does not require an account. I’d love feedback on the product direction and the databases or workflows you want supported next.
