I first thought it was another way to make saves for linux servers, but it's in fact more advanced when it comes to the technology behind.

The fact I could start for free made it possible to try the system and ensure it was a great fit. And it in fact is !

Advanced backup tech (verified restores, index-based incrementals, immutable offsite copies) wrapped in a setup so simple it takes minutes. It saves me time and finally lets me trust my backups.

Nothing blocking for me. I'd love to see even more database engines covered over time, and a few more pre-built "restore-test" recipes in the docs to make verification drills turnkey. The core is already solid.

I considered sticking with my home-grown stack (cron + rsync + raw S3) and the usual heavyweight backup suites. The DIY route always failed the same test: I could never TRUST the restore, and nothing warned me when a backup silently broke. The heavier tools meant another piece of infra to maintain. Datashelter won because it gives me verified restores, database support and silent-failure monitoring out of the box.
