For my day job, I write web apps for the scientists at my company. Oftentimes, these apps run a specific workflow on an Excel spreadsheet automatically for the scientists (they get big excel spreadsheets out of simulation software and the high throughput equipment). I had an idea to make a general purpose tool that tries to automatically determine the workflow from an unprocessed spreadsheet example and a processed spreadsheet example. The learned workflow could then be used to process other spreadsheets. ~~~~~~ Who is DataOrangutan for? DataOrangutan is designed for any professional who has to manually process many and/or large Excel spreadsheets. This may include adding formulas, performing calculations, cleaning and formatting data, generating pivot tables and summaries, and much more! What does it do? DataOrangutan analyzes an unprocessed example spreadsheet and a processed example spreadsheet provided by users and intelligently and automatically determines the necessary workflow steps. It can then use the learned workflow to process future unprocessed spreadsheets. DataOrangutan saves time and effort by eliminating manual processing, allowing users to focus on interpretation and analysis. How do I use it? Using DataOrangutan is straightforward and easy (I hope!). Step 1: Upload an unprocessed spreadsheet example and a processed spreadsheet example for your Excel workflow. The workflow algorithm will be calculated automatically. Step 2: Upload a new unprocessed spreadsheet which will be processed according to the algorithm Step 3: Download the new processed spreadsheet.
