Your thoughts don't always need to be saved. Sometimes they just need to be released. Dandelion is a different kind of journal. You write to release, not to keep. Put your racing thoughts into words, then (literally) blow them away like dandelion seeds in the wind. Nothing you write is ever saved. Not on your phone. Not in the cloud. Nowhere. When you release your words, they're gone forever — and that's exactly the point.

Hey PH! I'm Joe, the developer behind Dandelion.
I built Dandelion to recreate the concept of drafting an email and discarding it, or writing a letter and tearing it up, just to get your thoughts out and let them go.
Dandelion lets you write freely, then release your words like dandelion seeds in the wind. A primary UX goal was to blend the physical and digital world by allowing users to actually blow into the mic and watch their words drift away like dandelion seeds in the wind.
The metaphor is intentional. That feeling of letting go is the whole point.
Dandelion also, optionally, motivates you to let go of your thoughts by sharing a simple global count of times users have let their thoughts go that day by leveraging an anonymous iCloud database.
Dandelion is source-available so you can confirm our privacy promises on your own.
Curious to hear: do you journal to keep thoughts or to process them? Happy to answer any questions!
