Hey Product Hunt! I’m Tom, the founder of Cyclemate - the world’s first cycling-first navigation app.
I'm from London but live in Los Angeles. After spending time traveling between these two megacities I kept noticing the same thing: both cities are spending a ton of money looking to reduce congestion, improve air quality, and promote healthier living. These cities are pumping billions into cycle lanes but they already have excellent infrastructure for cyclists hiding in plain sight: side streets. These streets are quiet, safe, and best of all they already exist. What if we could get more people cycling now, utilizing what we already have?
So I built Cyclemate to fix that. It’s designed to encourage more day-to-day cycling - replacing short car trips for safe, easy bike rides. The app has greatly improved directions, trip tracking, and real-world rewards.
I believe cycling should be a daily default, not a niche hobby.
The app works everywhere in the US and UK, but in select launch neighborhoods (like Venice Beach) we’ve gone deeper, hand-curating routes for maximum comfort using local knowledge.
Our app is simple now, but this is just the beginning. We’ve set an ambitious goal: to double daily bike rides in the US by the 2028 “Car-Free” Olympics in LA.
