Hi Product Hunt! ๐
I'm the maker of CutVii, a free, open-source video editor for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Why I built CutVii
I wanted a video editor that respects your privacy. No account required, no cloud uploads, and no subscriptions to unlock essential features. Everything runs locally on your computer, so you can edit your videos offline and keep your media private.
What you can do with CutVii:
๐ฌ Video editing: Multi-track timeline, trim, split, snapping, keyframes, 16 transitions, speed controls, reverse, and freeze frames.
๐ฌ AI subtitles: Generate captions locally with Whisper, customize caption styles, and import or export .srt files.
โ๏ธ Automatic clips: Find short, shareable clips from longer videos using transcript analysis.
๐๏ธ Text-to-speech: Generate voice-overs in 31 languages, including Indonesian and English.
๐ค Karaoke maker: Create karaoke videos with line-by-line timed lyrics.
๐ AI upscaling: Upscale images and videos by 2ร or 4ร.
๐จ Color grading: Adjust colors, apply looks, and import .cube LUTs.
๐ค Text and typography: Choose from 31 text styles and 37 open-license fonts.
๐ฆ Flexible exports: Export videos up to 4K or audio in MP3, WAV, and M4A formats.
Privacy comes first. AI models are downloaded only with your permission, and your media never leaves your device. No account, no analytics, and no cloud processing.
CutVii is still in its early days (v1.0), and I'd genuinely love your feedback.
What's the one feature you'd need before switching from your current video editor to CutVii?
Bug reports, feature requests, and honest criticism are all welcome here or on GitHub. I'm building this in the open and would love to hear what you think.
Thanks for checking out CutVii! ๐งก
