Portero's interface sounds all come from cuelume. It synthesizes every sound with the Web Audio API, so there are zero audio files to bundle, zero dependencies, and the whole thing weighs almost nothing inside a Tauri app. Wiring it up took seconds: a data attribute for the declarative cues and a single play() call for the rest. The sounds themselves are subtle and tasteful by default, which is exactly what a utility app needs. Alternatives were shipping .mp3 sprite packs or hand-rolling Web Audio myself, and neither was worth it.
