Hello everyone!
This is Filippo, co-founder of Primo Toys. We make Cubetto - the Montessori-approved, friendly wooden robot that teaches toddlers computer programming.
Children (aged 3+) help Cubetto navigate a magical world by writing their first programs using hands-on coding blocks. No tablets, no WiFi. Think of it as a physical LOGO Turtles if you like. Instead of just making the robot tangible, we made the coding part tangible too, and screen-less.
Last year we launched Cubetto on Kickstarter and raised $1.6M thanks to our amazing community! To date, we’ve shipped over 20,000 units worldwide and this year we are back on Kickstarter with new themed world maps and books to make Cubetto’s world bigger.
We are also part of the Kickstarter Gold initiative which celebrates $1B paid to repeat creators: https://www.kickstarter.com/gold - we reached our $100k goal in the first 3.5 hours and we’ve also added some extra goodies for our backers - check out the latest updates!
We are also looking for some beta tester for our new, top-secret project, so if you have children between the ages of 3 and 7, and live in the Greater London area, we’d love to connect! If you’re interested, please connect with Ben on ben@primotoys.com
Thanks!
Filippo
I backed this project last week, as soon as I heard about it. The team has been keeping all backers up to date, and its numbers are increasing insanely!
When I showed my daughter what she'll get for her birthday in September, her smile brightened and she keeps asking me to play the video again and again (probably until receiving her Cubetto!).
No doubt this is a HUGE hit.
@vitorspencer we hope so too, and the stories with maps should make for a wonderful experience. If we can help with any other information before delivery let us know. We'd be happy to share resources and content that can enhance the experience.
Looks really interesting. I'm thinking of asking daycare if this would be something for them to work with. Would you say this require much from the pedagogue to get the children started?
@mikaellowgren not much at all actually! We even have 120 lessons ready for use in the classroom. You can visit www.primotoys.com/education to get a hold of our lesson plans. We even have some case studies of other educational programs currently using Cubetto. Let us know how we can help!

We are using Cubetto at an intro to coding program for 5 to 7 year olds. We use it as an introduction to giving clear instructions and sequences before we switch over to coding apps. The kids love it and it's a great way to get them to think about programming, away from a screen!

@dalrayes You might want to check our product "GOBOT" as well (in prelaunch state). It's very simliar to cubetto but with extra depth and fun. https://goo.gl/aFV1zT
