Hello PH community,
Thanks to @chrismessina for hunting us. We’re excited to be launching Cross on Product Hunt!
Amazon operates in many countries, 17 to be exact. As Amazon expanded over the years, it had added an international shipping option. However, there isn’t that much support for this service. People are not familiar with it and wouldn’t go through the hassle of going to another Amazon store and searching for the same product to see if it’s available.
We were excited about the opportunities and started working on a browser extension that would help you do just that.
Have you ever gone onto Amazon and wondered if it would be cheaper to get the item through another Amazon store? Based on the current exchange rate, which region would be the best deal for me? Cross seeks to solve this problem. The idea is for anyone in the world to be able to buy from the cheapest Amazon store that sells that particular product.
Features
-Best region is on the right side. Hover over to see the price tags from different regions. Select a currency from the drop-down menu to convert them using up-to-date exchange rates.
-Best price is on the left side. Hover over to see the side by side comparison of the default price and the best other-seller price.

@chrismessina@trycross@crossext@ericph This is very interesting. If you buy it from another region, would it still ship from the nearest warehouse?
Also a note, it doesn't work at smile.amazon.com

@chrismessina@trycross@crossext@ericph@eglove It doesn't seem that customs/duties and shipping are included when figuring out the actual fully loaded cost. If you have prime or not, etc. Amazon seems to have done a fairly good job at compensating for the price diffs. The value I see here is getting out of stock stuff in Canada (where I am) and in stock (US) or the reverse. Nicely done, regardless. Works on MSFT Edge in case you care.

@eglove No, in this case, you are most likely buying from the warehouse located in that region. This is the first version of the extension and we will consider adding smile.amazon.com support in our upcoming updates. Thanks for your input.

@rick_segal1 Yes the customs and shipping fees are not included in the calculation. You can see this information after you have added the item into cart and select your address. Sometimes the price difference are negligible but there are many instances where even after accounting for the shipping fees, you'd save a significant amount. That's a great user case as well(especially for Canadians). Thanks for your feedback. What do you mean by Edge?
Report
@ericph Microsoft's Edge browser. The extension works fine on that browser. Thanks for the reply. Continued success.

@rick_segal1 did not know that you could do that. Good to know. Cheers
