Quick FAQ for anyone checking out CraftLauncher. Happy to answer anything else below.
**What is CraftLauncher exactly?**
A no-code SaaS dashboard for Minecraft server admins. You configure your modpack (Forge or Fabric), and CraftLauncher builds a custom launcher (.exe/.AppImage/macOS) for your players. No manual Java setup, no manual mod installs.
**How does the build process work?**
You configure everything in the web dashboard and click "build." Builds run on our infrastructure, and the finished installers get uploaded to our CDN automatically. You never touch a build pipeline yourself.
**What happens after a player installs the launcher?**
It self-updates. When you push a new modpack version, players get it automatically on next launch, no reinstall needed.
**Is it free?**
Yes, there's a free plan (1 launcher, 100 MB storage) to test things out. Paid plans start at 9.99 /month (Basic) and scale up launcher count, storage, and Mac build allowance. Higher tiers unlock additional features like crash reporting and in-launcher social tools.
**Is CraftLauncher open source?**
The player-facing launcher is built on the open-source Helios Launcher. The dashboard, build pipeline, and hosting are a closed-source managed service, similar to how managed WordPress hosting builds on open-source WordPress.
**What loaders are supported?**
Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge.
**Can I import an existing modpack?**
Yes, Modrinth and CurseForge import are supported.
**What if I want to leave later?**
This is something we're actively improving. If you have specific concerns about lock-in or data portability, tell me here, it directly shapes what we prioritize next.
