Every time you share a passport photo, you expose more than needed. CoverID Redact lets you scan IDs, blur sensitive fields, add purpose banners like "For hotel check-in only," and share safer copies. Encrypted vault, Face ID lock, everything on-device. Free for iOS.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built CoverID Redact because of a problem I face constantly as an expat in Spain: every time a landlord, hotel, or bank asks for a passport copy, I end up sending a raw photo with everything exposed — document number, date of birth, photo, MRZ zone.
No control over what happens to it next.
So I built a solution:
- Scan your passport/ID with auto edge detection
- Tap to redact sensitive fields (blur, pixelate, or solid black)
- Add a purpose banner: "For apartment verification only"
- Reduce image quality so copies can't be reused as originals
- Strip EXIF metadata
- Share a safer version
Everything is encrypted on-device (AES-256). No cloud, no account, no tracking. Your documents never leave your phone unless you choose to share them.
I'm a solo developer and this is my first app. The Dutch government actually recommends this exact workflow on government.nl — black out your BSN, add a purpose note, write the date. CoverID Redact automates all of that.
Free to use, with a Pro subscription for auto-redact, PDF export, and widgets.
What would you add to a privacy-first document wallet? I'd love your feedback.
