You play a little pixel skeleton running through the 17 real towns of the Costa da Morte, the coast in northwest Spain named after its shipwrecks. The bosses are not invented: a beast a pilgrim described in 1492, a queen from local legend, a ship that sank in 1890 with 172 men aboard. Free in your browser, no signup, no ads. Built alone, in vanilla JS, by someone who is not a game developer. The princess you are saving is my daughter.

Where I live, the coast is called the Death Coast. Not as a nickname - it is the official name, and it comes from the number of ships that broke on these cliffs.í
So I made a game about it.
You run through the 17 real towns of the Costa da Morte, in northwest Spain. Every level is a place you can actually walk to. And the bosses are not made up:
- The Vakner, a beast a German pilgrim wrote down in 1492 after crossing these hills
- Queen Lupa, a legend tied to Mount Pindo
- The HMS Serpent, a British ship that sank here in 1890. 172 men died. Three survived.
I am not a game developer. I run a small clothing brand and I built this alone in plain JavaScript, no engine, because my region had no game and I thought it deserved one. I gave it away to the local tourism association, and they adopted it as the official game of the territory.
The princess you are running to save is called Mía. She is seven. She is my daughter, and she picked some of the levels herself.
It is free, opens in your browser, no signup, no ads, nothing collected. There are also things hidden in it that only make sense if you are from here - a Nokia 3310, barnacles that make you invincible, and a secret mode you unlock with the right sequence.
Cheers from the actual Death Coast :)
honestly the idea of pulling real local folklore for the bosses instead of inventing generic monsters is such a cool touch, especially the 1890 shipwreck one. and doing it solo in vanilla JS for a kid? that rules.
@zgurbuzogl23098 thank you, that means a lot. the folklore was the easy part honestly, I grew up hearing these stories, so it felt wrong to put a generic dragon in there when the real thing is stranger. the Serpent one still gets me: 172 dead, 3 survived, and the villagers buried the bodies in a small cemetery by the sea that you can still visit. that cemetery is in the game. and yes, Mía picked some of the levels. she is a tough art director :)
