Here's why I built it: 👩‍👦 My journey began with my mom, who is almost completely deaf. Communicating with her, especially when we're not in the same room, has always been a challenge. We relied heavily on technology to bridge this gap. 📱 She used a Google transcription app on her Android phone, which was a lifesaver. However, we hit a roadblock when the app started malfunctioning, and no updates or fixes seemed to resolve the issue. 🔍 This led me to search for alternatives on my iPhone. To my surprise, the options available were either extremely expensive or tied to hefty subscription models. This was disheartening. Why should essential accessibility features come with such a high price tag? 🤔 It got me thinking – why shouldn't iPhone users have access to a basic, reliable, and affordable speech-to-text app? Accessibility should be a right, not a privilege. 🛠️ So, I set out to build an app that's not only user-friendly but also affordable. It's designed to help not just my mom, but anyone who might be facing similar challenges in communication due to hearing impairments.
