Control Dopamine flips the script on screen time apps. Instead of blocking your apps and watching you find a workaround in 3 days, it asks you to earn back screen time by doing real activities — walking, reading, meditating, sleeping. Native iOS (Android soon). On-device. No accounts. 13 languages day one. Hard paywall, no free trial.
Hey Product Hunt — Berkay here, solo founder, calling in from France.
I built Control Dopamine because every morning, every gap during the day, and every minute before sleep, my hand would just reach for the phone. I'd start scrolling without even noticing it had happened. By the time I added it up, I was losing 3 to 4 hours a day to a feed that didn't want anything from me except more of my attention.
The breaking point was specific. One morning I checked screen time before noon and saw 2 hours 30 minutes already gone. Before noon. To nothing. That was the moment I decided I had to do something different.
I tried what most people in this category try first — deleting the apps on weekends, hiding them in folders, asking someone else to set a passcode I didn't know, logging out. Each one worked for about a week. Then I re-downloaded, learned the passcode, dug the folder back out. The wall got higher; my brain got better at climbing.
What changed things was a shift in framing. Deletion isn't the answer — the modern world still requires the phone, you can't opt out completely. But neither is fighting the device. The answer for me was inversion: stop trying to prevent scrolling, and start making screen time something you earn through real-life activity.
Control Dopamine is that idea, automated. You pick the apps you want to block. You earn brain credits by walking, reading, meditating, sleeping, exercising — 20 activities. You spend credits to unlock blocked apps for a window. No credits, no scroll.
Design choices I want to be upfront about:
- **Hard paywall, no free trial.** $6.99/wk, $14.99/mo, $49.99/yr. Free trials selected for tourists in beta. I'd rather have 100 people who paid because they meant it than 10,000 who churned.
- **Everything on-device.** No account, no cloud, no behavioral tracking. Apple Family Controls means blocks are enforced with opaque tokens — I literally can't see which apps you've blocked.
- **A mascot that grows with your streak.** Tamagotchi-style. Silly, and I am unreasonably attached to it.
- **13 languages day one** because the people who need this most don't all read English.
Solo. Native SwiftUI. Family Controls API. SwiftData on-device. RevenueCat for IAP. Android in Q3.
Roast it, ask anything, tell me what's broken. I'll be in the comments all day.
