I built ContentTrace after seeing my own posts stolen online with no proof they were mine first. It embeds invisible fingerprints, scans for key phrases & patterns, shows precise % similarity matches (even on rewrites), proves ownership via Archive.org, and generates ready-to-send DMCA/EU takedown notices — all from your WP dashboard.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm the solo developer behind ContentTrace.
The problem: someone copies your blog post, publishes it on their site, and you have no proof you wrote it first. Existing solutions are either expensive (Copyscape charges per search) or useless (right-click blockers that any scraper bypasses).
The approach is different from traditional plagiarism checkers:
- Invisible Trap: Lazy scrapers and RSS bots copy the entire HTML structure—including this hidden token. When they republish it on their site, the token comes with it. One search for that unique ID instantly proves the theft came from your site.
- Beyond Fingerprints: Of course, smarter thieves might strip tokens or rewrite content. That's why the plugin also scans the web for unique key phrases and sentence patterns from your post to catch paraphrased copies (even without the token).
- Proof & Action: Once a match is found, it calculates a precise similarity score (e.g. 60% match), links to your Archive dot org timestamp to prove you published first, and generates a ready-to-send DMCA/EU takedown notice.
Combined with Archive.org timestamps and automated similarity analysis, you get a complete evidence package for a takedown notice (DMCA, EU, or International).
It's free on WordPress.org after 4 rounds of review. Would love your feedback!
