I built Consistent Character AI because current image and video tools constantly “forget” your character’s face. As a creator and developer, I was frustrated that every new generation slightly changed the character, making it almost impossible to produce comics, children’s books, or animated videos with a truly consistent main character. The problem I wanted to solve is simple: keep the same face in every image and video, across different scenes, outfits, and styles — without forcing people to learn complex workflows or train LoRA models for hours. Most creators don’t want to become ML engineers; they just want to upload a character and start telling stories. My approach evolved a lot while building this launch. Early versions relied heavily on prompt tricks and seeds, but they were unreliable and hard to control. Over time, I shifted to a “character-first” mindset: lock onto the facial identity from a single reference image, then layer style, pose, and scene generation on top of that. That led to features like the character library, multi-character scenes, and one-click video with lip sync, all built around the idea that the character’s identity should never drift. This launch is the first step toward a full stack for character-driven creation: start with one reference, and scale it into books, webtoons, games, and videos — all with a perfectly consistent character.
