What do you think? …

Aayush
Hey Product Hunt! I'm thrilled to introduce Compose, born from my own frustration with constantly switching between apps and browser extensions to get AI assistance with my writing. Compose works systemwide across all your apps and websites—whether you're writing emails in Mail, messages in Slack, documents in Word, or posts on Twitter. Just select text, press your custom hotkey, and watch your writing transform instantly. What makes Compose different: Works everywhere on your Mac (no more plugins or extensions) Bring your own API keys for complete privacy Fully customizable workflows for your specific needs Lives quietly in your menu bar until summoned One-time purchase (no subscription) I've been using the email reply generator daily to save hours each week, and our early users have created incredible custom workflows—from essay writing to non-violent communication transformations. I'm actively working on adding more providers beyond OpenAI (Anthropic, Google, xAI, Groq coming within days) and local model support. I'd love to hear how you'd use Compose in your workflow! I'll be here all day answering questions.

What do you think of your app compared to the app Grammarly provides?

Aayush

@justintieu

Grammarly was great when they first came out, they made the best at the time grammar checker

The issue with grammarly now is, ChatGPT exists, LLMs exists and there's one thing more than anything that they prevail in next token prediction (aka writing)

Grammarly also feels like a super bloated app, compose is 14MB and uses just 30MB (that's right MB of ram)

We haven't even scratched the surface with features like being able to reply to an email, literally craft an essay not just fix.

These are things that grammarly can not do.

Can we connect it to slack?

Aayush

@charvibothra yes you can connect to slack!

Super slick! ✨ Love the all-in-one workflow—no more jumping between tools. Total privacy with your own API keys is a big win too!

@aayushbuilds Hi, I'm trying to setup compose to test it, and during the install process, it is asking me to allow permissions. However, when I click open System Settings, I don't see anything related to Compose listed (that I would switch on). Stuck, and could use a hand! Thanks! — FYI I'm on Sequoia 15.5

John

@aayushbuilds nevermind. Reinstalled and got it working
