What if the real key to a richer and more fulfilling career was not to create and scale a new start-up, but rather, to be able to work for yourself, determine your own hours, and become a (highly profitable) and sustainable company of one? Suppose the better—and smarter—solution is simply to remain small? This book explains how to do just that.
Delighted to see Company of One come out and excitedly pre-ordering my copy. @pjrvs has been a continual guiding light and inspiration as I've built my business.
Clearly I've not read this book as it's not out yet, but since coming across Paul this year I've been avidly consuming his podcast (Creative Class is EXCELLENT), emails, and other content. I LOVE his approach to business. I hate all the pressure on people to grow (in finances, staff numbers, customer numbers) - startup culture has a lot to answer for - and I'm looking forward to getting this book and seeing what Paul has to say. It won't be for everyone - if you're a keen entrepreneur who WANTS to grow a business's quantitative metrics, then it won't be for you. But I'd recommend it even without having read it to any solo business person that wants to stay solo and keep loving what they do. And probably to people trying to grow and finding it stressful too. In fact, that's reminded me, I probably need to buy a copy for a friend! Thanks, Paul, for all the amazing content you put out and for inspiring us all.
I can’t wait to read this book and suggest you get it. Paul is one of the few people whose stuff (whatever it is) is an automatic purchase.
If you need any convincing, check out the Company of One podcast. Truly great work.
Congrats on the pre-launch, Paul. I know this has been a ton of work. Hope it goes really well! 😉

Anticipating it will be great, I bought extras to gift to favourite clients.
Pros:Paul delivers solid info in a non-shouty, non-showy way. No hype, just useful content every time. Can't wait to get my hands on this book.
Cons:Not expecting any!
Never used because the book is not out yet. But knowing Paul it must be valuable.
Pros:Love the idea of getting out of the 'grow grow grow' mentality. Paul Jarvis I know as a very consistent and reliable writer, teacher.
Cons:None
