I built CompactKit because I kept running into the same problem across different workflows: files were unnecessarily heavy, and existing tools felt fragmented or overcomplicated.
As a developer, I often needed to compress screenshots, optimize demo videos, shrink PDFs, or minify code before sharing or publishing something. Most apps only solved one part of that workflow, and many of them relied on cloud uploads, confusing settings/UX, or aggressive compression that damaged quality.
I wanted something simpler, fast, and practical, an app where you can just import files, choose a quality preset, and get lightweight results without thinking too much about technical details.
During development, the idea evolved from being “an image compressor” into a broader toolkit for reducing digital clutter. I started focusing more on consistency across file types, batch workflows, and making the experience feel lightweight from the first tap.
The launch process also pushed me to refine the product. Early feedback made me rethink onboarding, simplify presets, and prioritize features that save time in real-world use instead of adding unnecessary complexity.
CompactKit is ultimately built around a simple idea: file optimization should feel effortless.
