🔓 Why did we open-source our WhatsApp & Signal capture libraries?

Because in RegTech, "trust us" isn’t a security model.

Most vendors hide their capture logic - right up until an audit or breach exposes the cracks. We built this because we were tired of vague promises, especially after breaches like TeleMessage in May 2025.

We believe that transparency should be the default in the compliance industry, not the exception.

We released our real-time, encrypted WhatsApp & Signal capture connectors under open-source licenses (Apache 2.0 & GPL v3).

No marketing gate, no fine print - just the actual code we run in production. Fork it, audit it, or self-host it. 🛠️

We’re proving that compliance doesn’t have to be a black box. Auditors can walk through the repos. Compliance teams can threat-model every flow. If you're techy- go ahead and host it yourself.

This is step one, as we continue to build out more transparency through Comma Compliance, and we hope other players start to do the same.

Would you trust your compliance vendor enough to share their source code?

👇 Explore the code, kick the tires, and tell us where to improve - and let us know what your biggest compliance headache is, so we can help fix that, too.

It's a great initiative. There is a lock of vendor lock-in in the compliance vendor space. Unhappy customers are a result of businesses putting their interests first at the expenses of the market.

Other industries have already started a transition to a more customer-centric business praxis, Compliance can certainly do the same.
