I built this because I'm a front end engineer in a startup that doesn't have a designer - so I'm the designer :P I used to use the color tool on the mac to extract colors from and image but was curious to see what kinds of entire palettes I could generate from an image.
I was also curious to get different variants on the colors by using different algorithms - many based on k-means clustering. There are probably lots of other cool stuff you could do (thinking "get color palette with colors you'd find in nature", or "vintage color palette", or something... this is just a start)
This is not a paid product - just a tool that was super fun to build and maybe useful to somebody else!
