Color Blind Camera is a free color blindness app that applies real-time daltonization filters for protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia. Detect colors, daltonize gallery photos, and see the world in accurate color.
Here's the problem: ~8% of men and ~0.5% of women have some form of color vision deficiency. That means ripening fruit, cooked meat, wiring, maps, charts, and outfit matching are daily guesswork. Existing tools made you take a photo, wait, and squint at a result ā nothing corrected the world live.
So I built Color Blind Camera:
š„ Live daltonization ā real-time filters for protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, and achromatopsia, based on published research (Brettel et al., 1997)
š Tap-to-detect ā tap anything, get the color name + RGB instantly
š¼ļø Gallery daltonize ā fix photos you've already taken
š 100% on-device ā no uploads, no account, works offline
What makes it different from other colorblind apps: it's real-time on the camera feed, not a photo-import workflow. And it's honest about the science rather than a gimmick.
I'd love your feedback ā especially on:
1. Which filter type do you (or someone you know) use?
2. Any features you wish it had?
