CodeRook: Open-source version control for big projects and game assets

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built CodeRook because keeping versions of big projects was painful. A Unity project with tens of thousands of files, AI models, asset folders measured in gigabytes. Git wants you to learn staging, branches and LFS first. Most other hosts are one policy change away from using your work to train something. So CodeRook does two things differently: 1. Saving is just saving. Point it at a folder, and every save is a complete, compressed, deduplicated snapshot. There's no staging area, and nothing to rebase. When a save is ready for people to see, you publish it from History. Nothing you haven't published is visible. 2. Nothing you upload trains anything. Not your private projects and not your public ones, by us or anyone we hand them to. It's in the terms, not just on a marketing page. CodeRook is paid for by people renting storage, and that's the whole business. Each project also has its own switches for what AI tools may read, download or contribute. What's in it today: - A desktop app (Windows), a command line (npm i -g @coderook/cli, any OS) and the website, all doing the same things - Git works too: git clone coderook://owner/project - Proposals with reviews, required approvals and checks, for when you want protected lines - Compression that counts: you're billed for what's stored, not what's on your disk - Free: 5 GB, unlimited projects, every feature. Pro is 150 GB for $7/month; Power is 500 GB for $20/month. Coming soon: publish a web build (Unity WebGL, Godot, Vite...) and people can play it straight from your project page. Honest note: the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will warn you the first time. The command line has no such issue.
