Leo Trieu
Hi guys, I'm the Founder of Code4Startup. Even better, you can get the full source code of TaskRabbit clone for FREE at https://github.com/leotrieu/Code... We're learning by cloning amazing Startups. So not just LEARNING, but BUILDING something REAL ^.^
Dan Ruswick ☕️
@leotrieu Both current courses are free. What's pricing going to be like in the future?
Leo Trieu
@danruswick To be honest, I don't have that plan at the moment. Just focus on creating awesome courses.
Leo Trieu
@keeranravee that's sweet
Mike Williams (Yoroomie)
@leotrieu this is such a good idea and how I taught myself! Congrats on the launch and looking forward to seeing it evolve.
Ramandeep Singh
@leotrieu Amazing Idea :)
Leo Trieu
May be I should clone Producthunt as well...
Eric Watson
@leotrieu Check out @telescopeapp before you go too far down this path. There is a great tutorial @DiscoverMeteor too, thanks to @SachaGreif
Ross Rojek
@leotrieu Yeah check telescope first. Sacha does a really great job with it, and it wasn't a PH clone, he was developing it before PH was working on the website. That said, creating a class on how to develop and launch it wouldn't be bad. His tutorials are good, but don't get as much under the hood as you'd want if you were learning it.

@sacbookreviewer @ericwattage Thanks for your suggestions.
jack rometty
This looks really smart. The best tutorials were always building other products. Nice hunt!
Irving Torres
@jackrometty I completely agree. It's difficult to learn something without a purpose of learning it. A lot of people attempt to learn a language from scratch with no real purpose and that’s kind of how school works (in some ways I think the modern way of learning is flawed because of this). It's infinitely better to work on a project you are really excited about and to try to find the right tools to build it.
Giordano Contestabile
Also known as the "Rocket Internet Simulator" :)

I'm attending a code bootcamp right now and this seems like a great resource for students.
Leo Trieu
@msny_36 It would be great if you could share this to students in the code bootcamp :p
Brock
@leotrieu I work for one, will definitely share! Great idea.
Nitin Gupta
@leotrieu a ton of students already on koding.com. Our "playground" cloud environments could be amazing for beginners as they learn via your content. No need to install anything on localhost and all required software is installed on the VM! We should chat if you're interested in digging into this more.
Leo Trieu
@gniting Thanks Nitin, definitely. Shoot me an email at leo@code4starup.com. Would love to hear more :)
Dan Ruswick ☕️
This is a fantastic idea. As a developer, I constantly encourage my friends to learn to code (I usually point them to Codecadey, Dash, TryRuby and the Rails Girls guides). They usually get through the introductory stuff really quickly but always ask "what am I supposed to do with this?" The problem is not teaching people about if statements or what classes are. It's getting them to do the other 90% of development, which is taking a bunch of disparate pieces and putting them together into something real.
Leo Trieu
@danruswick That exactly the reason why C4S was born. We're just 2 month old startup and a lot of thing need to be improved but on top of that, we promise to our students with something cool, something real, something they love at the end of the course. And of course, we encourage people to start their own business up. It's not easy but it is worth creating your journey. It can be for a serious career or just for fun.
Sean Miller
Great concept ! This could be a really valuable source for non coding Startup founders - to learn what technologies are currently being used in different products and have a better idea of where to start.
Sean Wiese
@seanomiller this is one area I definitely struggle with. I don't want to learn how to code, but have an idea a day that could get spun up really quickly, if only i had a way. I am dangerous to tweak things once they are in place.
Sean Miller
@dswiese I understand, I'm a non coding founder and I've had to take the time to find out what sorts of technologies power products out there. Once they are up, its game on! Luckily I now have my own dev team.
