Over the past year I watched AI tools go from "nice to have" to something almost every team uses daily but security and policy never caught up. Employees paste client SSNs, account numbers, contract details into ChatGPT constantly, usually just trying to get a task done faster, with zero visibility for the business. Most existing data-loss-prevention tools are built and priced for enterprises — $15K-$50K a year, months of setup. That leaves every small law firm, accounting office, HR team, and insurance agency with nothing. So I built Trace: a Chrome extension that catches sensitive data the second someone tries to paste it into an AI tool, alerts them right there, and logs it for whoever needs to review it no enterprise contract, no IT team required to set it up. This is genuinely a one person build so far, so I'm here all day to answer anything what you'd want it to catch, what would make you trust it enough to install it on your team's browsers, anything.
