Cloaks works as a multi-platform "format" for protecting sensitive images online. Essentially, we add a layer of security to existing social media and cloud solutions, with the goal of setting a new standard in online privacy.
When you “cloak” an image, it is split into pieces that are randomized to camouflage the caption. Each cloak uses a unique algorithm, which is subsequently encrypted, and users select with whom to share a decryption key. This means that even if your image would get hacked, the true caption still cannot be seen by anyone but the person holding the right key.
Because cloaking does not change an image's format, users can immediately and fully privately share cloaked images through multiple public and/or private social channels (WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook…), or simply store them safely in the cloud.
