Clipus is a desktop app: AI highlight-finding, word-level transcripts, animated captions, and 9:16 export all render locally on your PC. Bring your own OpenAI/Groq key (no markup), or skip AI with free offline Whisper transcription. One-time $20 lifetime, no watermark, no caps, nothing uploaded.

Hey Product Hunt! š
I'm Muzammil, a solo developer, and I built Clipus because I got tired of the same trade-off every AI clipping tool forces on you: upload your footage to someone else's server, wait in a render queue, and pay a subscription forever ā even for months you don't clip anything.
Clipus is a desktop app instead. Everything ā transcription, AI highlight-finding, captioning, 9:16 reframing, rendering ā runs locally on your own PC with ffmpeg and Whisper. Your video never leaves your machine.
A few things I'm especially proud of:
š BYOK, no markup ā plug in your own OpenAI or Groq key for AI highlight-finding and pay the provider directly. I don't proxy or mark up your API usage at all.
šļø Free offline transcription ā local Whisper with word-level timestamps, unlimited use, no key needed. Good for long podcasts you don't want anywhere near the cloud.
šø $20 once, not $20/month ā a lifetime license costs less than a single month of most cloud alternatives.
ā” You can also skip AI entirely with Smart Manual Mode ā auto-splits your video into clips by length, completely free, zero API calls.
I'm the only person behind this (support, bug fixes, feature requests ā all me), so I'll be in these comments all day. Would genuinely love to hear:
What's the most annoying part of your current clipping workflow?
Anything that would make you switch from what you use now?
Try the free trial and let me know what breaks ā thank you for checking it out! š

honestly this looks great for clipping my streams, one thing though ā would be really cool if you could batch process multiple long videos at once and just come back to a folder of clips ready to go, right now i think it does them one at a time which would be kind of tedious for me

Love that it runs locally and the lifetime price is fair. One thing that would make it a daily driver for me is a built-in clip scheduler that pushes finished shorts straight to YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Reels via API, so I can batch a week's content in one sitting instead of uploading manually each time.
Congrats on launching Clipus ! Opus Clip| Turn videos into viral TikToks, Reels & Shorts is a genuinely exciting direction. Cheering you on and wishing you a fantastic launch! š
