Hi PH, Nyior Clement here :-) I'm a junior software engineer. Clipit was birthed out of our believe that the steps required to shorten long URLs through a web interface are unnecessarily many. Clearly, there is an avoidable cost to opening up a new browser window, typing the the name of a URL shortener service, copy-pasting a link and then clicking the submit button just to shorten a URL. This might not be a problem if you only shorten URLs let's say once a year, but what if your work requires you to shorten multiple URLs in a week? Do you have to go through that long process for every URL you'd want to shorten? We made Clipit to make the URL shortening process super convenient for everyone, and most especially those who would need to shorten multiple long URLs over some period of time. How you ask? In addition to the web interface, Clipit also comes with a browser extension that reduces the URL shortening steps to just two clicks(hopefully we could reduce this to a single step). Our browser extension is install-able in Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Clipit comes with public API that developers could easily integrate into their projects. FEATURES - You could submit a long URL and get an auto generated shortened version of that URL - As a user, sometimes you'd want to customize the short URL so that you could recall what URL it is referencing or give it a cool name. Clipit allows you to do that too. Just submit the long URL along with a custom short URL you'd want the system to use. - Clipit allows you retrieve a list of all the URLs you had shortened in the past - Lastly, Clipit also allows you see a report of your short URLs, when it was created, how many times it was clicked, and the last time it was accessed. We are super open to feedback!

I find it easier to shorten URL while working on a tab since I don't need to go to another website to get it done

Everything is just better by shortening a link while I'm on that tab and getting the shortened link instantly. Awesome stuff🚀🚀🚀
