What's great

I run agentic workflows often, and token usage adds up fast, especially on longer runs where the context keeps growing. What stood out to me here is the prompt compression. It clearly reduced token usage on heavier agent runs, and the output quality stayed the same, which is usually the tradeoff you expect. Per-project budget caps and alert thresholds are the other features I use daily. Having a hard stop instead of finding out later changes how you plan usage. Setup was also easy, I didn't have to change how I already use Claude Code.

What needs improvement

I'd like to see Slack alerts added alongside the email notifications, and it would help to see which user or session triggered a budget alert so it's faster to follow up. I'm also curious how the prompt compression performs on longer, messier multi-agent runs where context builds up fast. Outside of that, it does what it's built to do.

vs Alternatives

I looked at a few other options for tracking AI spend, but most only show total usage and don't break it down by project or session. What made me pick Clawgate is the combination of hard budget caps and prompt compression together. Other tools I checked gave visibility but no way to actually stop overspend before it happens.
