I’ve worked as an assistant editor on films, and one problem kept repeating itself across projects.
Logsheets.
For small budget films and ADs, they’re usually handwritten on set, passed through multiple hands, and by the time they reach the edit, they’re inconsistent, incomplete, or just hard to trust.
And yet, everything depends on them.
ClapNotes started as a way to fix this one broken link in the workflow.
It’s a simple tool designed for ADs, ACs and Script Supervisors to log scenes, takes, and notes cleanly on set so that what reaches post is actually usable.
A big focus while building this was keeping it practical for Indie film sets where:
• Internet can be unreliable
• Speed matters more than perfection
• Teams are already overloaded
The goal wasn’t to add another “system,” but to quietly replace chaos with something structured and reliable.
