We glorify the 80-hour work week in the startup world. When I started building my health-tech company here in Dhaka, I convinced myself that sacrificing sleep, skipping meals, and ignoring my personal relationships was just the "temporary price of admission" for success.
It wasn't until I found myself staring blankly at my laptop for two hours unable to write a single email that I realized: I wasn't being productive; my nervous system was just completely fried.
I ended up diving deep into the clinical psychology behind chronic stress, which completely changed how I view productivity. (Spoiler: treating your brain like a machine without maintenance leads to catastrophic technical debt).
I'm curious about the makers in this community:

Pros:
The vetting process for psychologists is what sets this apart. In Bangladesh, it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between a licensed clinical psychologist and a self-proclaimed "life coach" on social media. Chum Wellness solves that by only listing verified, licensed professionals. The telehealth option is also excellent for NRBs and anyone who does not want to deal with Dhaka traffic just to attend a session. The fact that they offer specialized tracks for couples counseling, corporate burnout, and child psychology shows they actually understand the market instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
Cons:
The platform is currently focused on Dhaka and Bangladesh. Would love to see them expand to Chittagong and Sylhet eventually. Also, a mobile app would make booking even more seamless for corporate clients who are always on the go.
Summary:
If you are in Bangladesh or a Bangladeshi professional living abroad and need genuine, evidence-based therapy from a licensed clinical psychologist, this is the best option available right now. The CBT-focused approach and the quality of the therapist roster is significantly better than anything else I have seen in the local market. Highly recommend checking it out.
Corporate professionals and founders dealing with burnout and high-functioning anxiety, couples navigating joint-family dynamics or communication breakdowns, and NRBs (Non-Resident Bangladeshis) who want therapy in Bangla with a psychologist who understands the cultural context. Also excellent for parents seeking child and adolescent psychology services in Dhaka.
MindSheba and Kaan Pete Roi. MindSheba has a wider range of services but felt more like a general directory. Kaan Pete Roi is volunteer-based which is great for awareness but not ideal when you need structured, clinical-grade therapy like CBT. Chum Wellness felt like the only platform that was truly built around licensed clinical psychologists with a proper vetting system.
This is incredibly important work, Imrul.
As someone working in Bangladesh's tech ecosystem, I've seen firsthand how many founders and developers silently struggle with burnout and anxiety but never seek help, partly because they don't even know where to find a real clinical psychologist versus a random "life coach" on Facebook.
The fact that you've built a vetting system for licensed psychologists and offer telehealth is a game-changer. Dhaka traffic alone is enough to stop anyone from going to therapy 😅 removing that barrier is huge.
Two questions:
1. Do you plan to expand services for NRBs (Non-Resident Bangladeshis) who want therapy in Bangla but live abroad?
2. How does your therapist matching work, can clients choose based on specialization like couples therapy vs. corporate burnout?
Congrats on the launch! Mental health infrastructure in Bangladesh is long overdue, and I'm glad someone from the tech community is finally building it properly. 🙌
Thanks so much, Musa! Really appreciate the kind words and the thoughtful questions. Let me answer both:
1. NRBs: YES, this is actually one of our fastest-growing segments. We have a significant number of Bangladeshi professionals living in the US, UK, Canada, and the Middle East who specifically want therapy in Bangla (or Banglish) with a psychologist who genuinely understands the cultural context. Joint family pressure, immigration guilt, identity crisis abroad, etc. Our entire telehealth infrastructure was designed with this exact use case in mind. You can book a session from London at 10 PM your time and connect with one of our top clinical psychologists in Dhaka. Fully encrypted, fully private.
2. Therapist matching: Great question. When a client comes to Chum Wellness, they can absolutely filter by specialization. We have dedicated experts for couples counseling (especially for joint-family dynamics, which is a uniquely South Asian challenge), corporate/executive burnout (very popular with founders and senior managers in Gulshan/Banani), child and adolescent psychology, and clinical anxiety/depression management using CBT. We also match based on gender preference. For example, we have several clients who specifically request our female clinical psychologists for cultural comfort.
And you hit the nail on the head about Dhaka traffic. That was honestly one of the original motivations for building the telehealth option. Nobody should have to sit in 2 hours of Mirpur-to-Gulshan traffic just to talk about their anxiety. That would just create MORE anxiety.
Thanks again for the support. If you or anyone in your network ever needs clinical-grade mental health support, check us out at https://chumwellness.com. Always happy to chat.
@mirahmlk Great question, Miraç! We actually offer both options because we know people have different preferences.
You can browse our detailed therapist profiles directly on our site and select someone based on their specific clinical expertise (like CBT, couples therapy, or burnout). Or, if you aren't sure who to choose, you can reach out to our care team during intake, and we will personally match you with the best-fit psychologist for your specific needs. The goal is to remove all the friction from getting help!
@sare6vaa Thank you so much for the kind words, Sare!
That exact experience is exactly why we built Chum Wellness. Finding a therapist who specializes in your specific type of anxiety (rather than just getting general advice) makes all the difference in the world. We're thrilled that the booking process was smooth for you. Wishing you the best on your continued journey!
@peksuyurswaj This is incredible to hear, İpek! Breaking that "clinical, judgmental" stigma in Dhaka has been our number one priority from day one.
We also spent a lot of time optimizing our telehealth platform specifically because we know internet stability in South Asia can be unpredictable. So glad to hear the video sessions held up well for you! Thank you for trusting us with your care.

Musa, thank you so much for this incredibly detailed and thoughtful review. It genuinely means a lot to our entire team.
You raised two great points in your cons that I want to address directly:
On Chittagong and Sylhet expansion: This is absolutely on our roadmap. Right now we are laser-focused on building the deepest possible clinical infrastructure in Dhaka first, making sure every single psychologist on the platform meets our strict vetting standards. But we are already in conversations with licensed professionals in Chittagong and Sylhet, and we expect to have coverage there within the next two quarters. In the meantime, clients in those cities can already access our full roster of Dhaka-based psychologists through our secure telehealth platform from anywhere in Bangladesh.
On the mobile app: You are spot on. We know that our corporate clients in Gulshan and Banani are booking sessions between meetings and need a fast, seamless mobile experience. A dedicated app is actively in development. For now, our website is fully mobile-optimized and the entire booking flow works smoothly on any smartphone browser.
And your comparison with MindSheba and Kaan Pete Roi is very fair. We have tremendous respect for what both platforms have done for mental health awareness in Bangladesh. Where we intentionally chose to differentiate is in the clinical rigor. Every single psychologist on Chum Wellness holds a verified degree in Clinical Psychology and practices evidence-based modalities like CBT. That is a non-negotiable standard for us because when someone is dealing with severe anxiety, trauma, or a relationship crisis, they deserve medical-grade care, not general advice.
