What's great

We run a drive-in/ food court with around nine stalls and a revenue-sharing arrangement with each outlet owner. Since we have a single billing counter, maintaining transparency of orders and sales with the stall owners was a major challenge. They were often suspicious about their respective sales. The Chefdesk team helped us solve this problem. Although billing and cash management are handled by our team, each stall owner can instantly track their store’s sales on their phone. The system also provides an excellent security feature for controlling bill cancellations and modifications. The respective store owner receives a WhatsApp alert whenever such changes are made. This transparency and control are what I really like about the system.

What needs improvement

Menu management could be improved. Since we generate a single invoice for the customer but need to split sales internally across multiple outlets, the menu configuration and sales-routing process is quite complex. At present, our team cannot manage these changes independently and needs support from the Chefdesk team.

It would be helpful if Chefdesk could simplify this process and provide more control to our team, reducing dependency on detailed menu configuration while still ensuring accurate sales routing to each outlet.

vs Alternatives

I chose Chefdesk because it gave us complete transparency between our central billing counter and each stall owner. Every outlet owner can track their sales instantly on their phone, which builds trust and avoids confusion. Its WhatsApp alerts for bill cancellations or modifications also provide strong control and security. These features made Chefdesk a better fit for our drive-in food court than other alternatives.

What's great

Chefdesk's KOT security feature has been a game-changer for us. Anytime a KOT is modified, deleted, or cancelled, the owner instantly gets a WhatsApp alert. At certain stages, bills can't even be changed or cancelled without the owner's permission.

This has really improved transparency and cut down on billing errors or manipulation—giving us much better control, even when we're not on-site.

What needs improvement

Yeah in the same security, we have been asking them to give it for multiple owners but currently this feature is only activated for a single owner. or manager

What's great

I really like the inventory feature. It makes it easy to check stock and keep track of ingredients without having to update everything manually. The low-stock alerts are one of the most useful features because they let us know when something needs to be reordered. Billing is also very smooth and quick, which makes the daily work easier.

I mainly looked at a few other restaurant billing and inventory solutions, but we wanted something that could handle billing, KOT, KDS and inventory in one place. ChefDesk covered the main things we needed without making the setup too complicated.

What needs improvement

Right now, Chefdesk's reservation feature handles table bookings really well—guests scan a QR code, book instantly, and get confirmation on WhatsApp. But we don't have a dedicated waitlist management feature yet. It would be great to have that added, so we can manage walk-in guests better during busy hours.

vs Alternatives

I chose ChefDesk because it offers most of the important restaurant management features in one place. The POS is simple to use, supports different order types and payment options, and features like split billing make daily billing easier. Compared to other solutions, I found ChefDesk more practical and convenient for managing regular restaurant operations.

Chefdesk’s table reservation feature has made the guest experience much smoother. Customers can scan a QR code, enter their details, and receive an instant WhatsApp confirmation. Our front-office team is notified immediately, checks table availability based on the number of guests, and assigns the right table through the system.

Once the table is confirmed, the guest receives the details directly on WhatsApp—so there is no need for repeated calls or waiting at the reception desk. It makes reservations faster for our team and gives customers a more convenient, professional arrival experience.

What needs improvement

While Chefdesk’s reservation and WhatsApp features are useful, the initial configuration can take time. Setting up QR reservations, table layouts, guest details, and WhatsApp Business messaging requires careful planning to ensure everything works correctly. Staff also need some training to manage reservations, update table availability, and handle changes during busy hours.

It would be helpful to have more flexibility in customizing reservation screens, reports, and guest communication templates. Overall, these are manageable areas for improvement, but a simpler setup process and more customization would make Chefdesk even stronger.
