Catalpas Atelier Scribe brings Markdown writing, live book layout preview, and publishing export into one desktop workspace. It focuses on the stage where many writing tools stop: turning a long manuscript into ePub, Docx, images, and print-ready PDF. It stands out with CJK vertical typesetting, ruby annotations, references, LaTeX math, custom fonts, page templates, and CMYK / CMYK + ICC PDF export.

Hi Product Hunt,
I’m launching **Catalpas Atelier Scribe**, a cross-platform Markdown typesetting app for authors, editors, and small publishers.
We built Scribe for a workflow we kept seeing in long-form writing: the manuscript starts clean in Markdown, but publishing often means moving through several disconnected tools for layout, ebook export, Word handoff, print PDF, CJK typography, references, and final checks.
Scribe tries to keep that work closer to the manuscript.
With Scribe, you can:
- Write and organize long manuscripts in Markdown
- Preview book layout and pagination while editing
- Export ePub, Docx, images, and print-ready PDFs
- Set CJK vertical text and ruby annotations
- Manage references, citations, LaTeX math, custom fonts, and page templates
- Export CMYK / CMYK + ICC PDFs for print workflows
It is not meant to replace every professional DTP tool. The focus is narrower: helping authors move from a readable source manuscript to common publishing outputs without rebuilding the book in a completely separate layout workflow.
I’d love to hear how you currently move from draft to ebook or print-ready files, especially if you write in Markdown, publish long-form work, or handle CJK typography.
