This is awesome, love how the new version supports so many new languages (Spanish ftw) 😍😍 What are some of your favorite new insights since launching version 1.0?
Angad Singh
@sebfeed Thanks a lot! Please let me know how accurate you find the spanish transcription since there's only so much testing I can do as a non-Spanish speaker ;) It's been amazing to see the engagement in the app, which is purely organic. We haven't sent any push notifications or emails, yet people come back every single day and 5% of them are using the app for more than 4 hours a day. We also noticed that users didn't always have the ability to record inside Cassette or had older recordings, but did want to transcribe them inside Cassette, so we added the ability to import audio & video files from other apps!

Seems pretty cool, but when I see the subscription model I gave up. It's like if I buy 10 hours, I have to use it in a month. If I need 20 hours, do I need to create another account or buy 50 hours subscription? This is totally an example of SUBSCRIPTION for SUBSCRIPTION. Manually 👎
Angad Singh
@huangdun Hey transcription is something we pay for out of pocket so it's hard for us to charge any other way except with a per hour limit. We actually used to be a pay as you go app but switching to subscriptions allowed us to reduce prices by as much as 60%. Also switching to subscriptions has meant that people use the app 2-3x more often. You can always change or cancel your plan at any time. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for checking us out!

@preetangad So what should I do if I need 20 hours? And what happens to the time the user didn't use since they are probably paying more than they actually used.
Angad Singh
@huangdun Hey the time you don't use expires at the end of the month. I understand that sounds a bit unfair but doing that allowed us to drop our prices by as much as 60% and pass on the benefit back to you. We also find that it encourages users to try the app in unexpected scenarios since they are already paying for it.

This is crazy I just asked this question a couple of days ago here on PH https://www.producthunt.com/ask/... ! Too bad though coz I am an Android user.

@iamtekeste Hey we are a small team so we've been busy working on Cassette for iOS but hope to have Android soon. You can sign up for an early invite here: cassette.design/help/android

2/2 Coincidence? Faith? Synchronicity? I believe in that shit so who knows 😊 But in all seriousness, it's kind of funny (see what I did there?) seeing exactly the kind of tool I was looking for within the first 30 seconds of hitting the interwebs. This Casette 2.0 app is bomb! I hope there's going to be more editing options like slice and dicing recordings or removing noise and adding effects. That would make it nuclear! Other than that, it's a lovely app with a very user friendly interface and clean design. Sure, the transcribing might not be perfect yet (although its impressively accurate compared to other alternatives) but I think if they keep working on it, things will only improve and get better. I wish the makers good luck with their launch and a big thank you for helping the forces of synchronicity do its thang 😂
Angad Singh
@fouad_tolaib Thanks for the compliments, we're deeply flattered! We're definitely working on releasing some awesome new features over the next few months including allowing you to crop audio by just selecting text (no waveforms!), editing the transcript to make it even more accurate, and lots more secret stuff! Hope you continue to use & enjoy the app. Please do keep us posted with your feedback since we love hearing from users :)
Andreas Duess
Apologies for being the grumpy old man, but is this actually working now/yet? I tried cassette when it was first released and accuracy was in the 50% range, i.e not good enough for real world use. Now, I know and understand how hard it is to make something as complex as transcription work, and other solutions were suffering from the very same shortcomings, but are you guys now at a stage where this is usable?
Angad Singh
@andreasduess Hey there Andreas! Sorry to hear you saw low accuracy in the past. We're always working on improving accuracy and will have some more updates in the coming weeks to improve it even further. The transcription you see in the video is a real life demo so it should give you an idea of the accuracy. It's not perfect but it's pretty good for searching audio and skimming through the transcript. Also, since it's an automated transcript, it's instant, inexpensive and completely confidential. Things like accents and background noise do impact accuracy a lot but we regularly hear from users who get as high as 90% accuracy. I'd be happy to send you some free credit so you can try the app again. Can you send me a message?
