Everything is effortless to make and scroll past now. Carriage asks for intent. Half-fold your iPhone Duo into a typewriter: one page up top, real keys below. Typos stay, struck through, so you choose every word before you type it.

Hi Product Hunt! π
Carriage is a typewriter for the iPhone Duo. Half-fold it like a little laptop, and the page stands on the top screen while a full typewriter keyboard sits on the bottom.
I made it because so much around us is now made and consumed without much thought. Feeds refill themselves, drafts write themselves, and it's easy to spend a whole day producing and scrolling without choosing much of anything. I wanted one place on my phone that asks for the opposite: a single page, and nothing else until I'm done.
A typewriter turned out to be the right shape for that. Each key takes a real press, the bell rings near the margin, and you push the carriage home yourself. Typos stay on the page, struck through, so you start choosing your words before you type them. It's slower, on purpose.
What's in it:
Four real typewriters, recorded key by key, with a tap you feel on every stroke
X-OUT for typos (backspace is in Settings if you'd rather)
Rain on the window or a fire in the grate, and a desk lamp that follows the hour
Pages saved as you type, synced with iCloud, with a Markdown copy in Files
No account, no ads, no subscription, and nothing collected
Your first 5,000 words are free. The unlock is $4.99 through launch week (unlimited words and every machine, forever), then $7.99 from October 30.
I'd love to hear what you'd write on it, and which typewriter I should record next.
wow this is really good idea. I also have Duo and I was thinking what kind of app only works on Duo, but I couldn't find anything good. Typewriter is perfect for this shape
I like that typo stays with strikethrough.
Love the design! It really gets me in the mood for writing βοΈ
@stnguyen90Β Thank you! The goal is to encourage some more focused and intentional writing!
