Hi everyone. I am the co founder of CaRPM, and we are absolutely thrilled to talk about our product here. CaRPM is an OBD scanner that works with our app (http://bit.ly/2XP46BV) to allow car owners and garages to access the right diagnostics data about cars. For both groups, the use case varies, and I will talk about each of them below- Car owners- Whenever your car has an issue, it will show a warning light on the dashboard. The warning light will vary by system- it could be your engine, your airbags, your brakes or anything else. Now, when such a thing happens, you would ordinarily take it to a garage, and let the technician figure it out for you. Any garage, be it a chain like Pep Boys or your friendly neighbourhood workshop, will usually charge for plugging their OBD scanner in your car (advertised cost at many places is $99 or so). You will, of course, later pay for the repairs too. The CaRPM OBD scanner lets you do two things- 1) find the right issue yourself instead of paying the garage; and 2) verify that the garage has indeed charged you for the correct problem and fixed it properly. And if you are so inclined, you can always fix the problem yourself instead of going to a garage at all :) Garages- CaRPM works for those on the other side of the table too. With the way cars are today, every garage needs a scan tool. Commonly available scanners fall into two categories- 1) $10 devices that cover limited systems in cars; and 2)slightly more expensive scanners that let you scan all systems. What we have done is make a tool that is right in between the two. It does 90% of what an expensive scanner would do, at an affordable cost. How did we do it? By being software first, and doing the heavy lifting on the software side instead of coding everything on the hardware/firmware. If you are a garage, you can use the CaRPM OBD tool to scan cars and also use functions like injector coding, throttle reset, DPF reset and more. This is how CaRPM works- - Plug the scanner in a car and pair with the app - Select the system you want to scan, or if you are unsure about where the issue is, let the app scan all systems together - After the scan, a PDF with descriptions and fixes of all faults is sent to you - Read the descriptions, fix anything if at all needed (not all codes need work), and remove the codes with the app We already work with garages in India (where we are based), and more than 5,000 of them use the scanner. We are just launching in US for both car owners and garages. US has a strong DIY culture, and there is a high % of car owners who prefer doing their car's maintenance themselves.
