One of the eight companies we selected to launch at SuperConf 2020 to compete for a $20k grand prize - Cargologik is helmed by @m1lesv (of Octopi logistics) & Luis Trujillo whose family has run a freight forwarder for generations. They've built a communications hub for the freight forwarding industry. Since SuperConf had to be cancelled due to COVID - we moved their launch to a digital launch. Thank you @bunsen! 🙏🏾 Grateful to have been selected and to also rep the #miamitech scene with you and the community We've been hard at work: sitting down with independent, forward-thinking freight-forwarders, customs brokers, and over-the-road/inland transportation brokers and building out modern, saas communication and collaboration platform. What is Cargologik: Cargologik is a simple freight forwarding management platform that allows independent forwarders and their customers to better stay in-sync, improve operations, and remote work. Why did we build it: If you're shipping something as a small business, you use a freight forwarder or customs broker to handle the complexities of coordinating and managing imports and exports. These supply chain players are the backbone of trade along with truckers, but have not changed much over the last 15 years. The industry is undergoing rapid change and innovation right now. While DHL, Fedex, Panalpina and all the other large players have tech teams, budgets, and the economies of scale to offer cheaper rates to shippers - they're roughly 20% of the market whereas the majority of these smaller freight forwarders/brokers make up 80% of the market. They also have the dedicated tech teams, budgets, and innovation departments that these smaller simply don't have the resources to build. Couple that with new digital forwarders like Flexport, it's no wonder these traditional, family-owned businesses that have been around for 10+ years are losing margin, struggling with loyalty, and feeling the heat.
