Coloured gemstones are a $50B asset class with no public market — no continuous price, no fractional access. CaratShares fixes that: vaulted, lab-certified stones (GIA, SSEF, Gübelin, AGL) are tokenised into carat-level facets and traded 24/7 on an on-chain order book settled on Base. Sworn appraisers record NAV on-chain, holders govern custody and sales, and the physical stone is ultimately redeemable. Live demo — every mechanism working end to end.

Hi Product Hunt — Alex here, founder of CaratShares.
Coloured gemstones are a ~$50B asset class that still trades the way it did five centuries ago: private rooms, reputation pricing, handshake settlement. No order book, no continuous price, no fractional access — you buy the whole stone or you don't participate.
We built the missing market infrastructure:
💎 Vaulted, lab-certified stones (GIA, SSEF, Gübelin, AGL), tokenised into carat-level "facets" — one facet, one share of the stone
💎 Primary issuance through a First Light Offering (FLO), then continuous trading on an on-chain order book, settled on Base
💎 NAV recorded on-chain by sworn appraisers with a public audit trail, holder governance over custody and sales, and physical redemption of the stone itself
Honest caveats: the demo runs on Base Sepolia testnet — the stones shown are not real assets yet — and we're pre-seed; mainnet with the first vaulted stones follows the round. What you can judge today is the market machinery: every mechanism works end to end.
The standards we defined (the FLO, the facet) are published openly and free for the trade to adopt.
I'd love feedback — especially from folks in RWA, market microstructure, or the gem trade. I'll be here answering questions.
