CaramOS is a Linux distribution for Vietnamese users, remastered from Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base). The Vietnamese language and Fcitx5 Lotus typing (Telex or VNI) are ready after install. It adds an App Center for apps like office suites, browsers and Zalo, a driver check for Wi-Fi, graphics and audio, and an update center for upgrading in place. Version 1.3.3, GPL-3.0, a 2.8 GB ISO you can try from USB before installing.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Jang. I'm hunting CaramOS, I'm not the maker. It is built by Dũng Lê with the Vietnam Linux Family community, and shared on Unikorn (https://unikorn.vn/u/mrd9999, product page https://unikorn.vn/p/caramos), the Vietnamese community for new products. I'm hunting it because it aims to make switching from Windows to Linux easier for Vietnamese speakers.
What the project says it does:
• Built on Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with security support listed until 2029
• Vietnamese language, time zone and the Fcitx5 Lotus typing method ready after install
• App Center: choose office suites (ONLYOFFICE, WPS Office, LibreOffice), browsers, Zalo and other apps and let it install them
• Driver check at first login or from the USB session, with one-button NVIDIA and Broadcom Wi-Fi driver install
• Update center for upgrading in place without reinstalling
• By the project's own measurement on one virtual machine (4 cores, 6 GB RAM): ISO 2.8 GB versus 3.1 GB for Linux Mint, and 865 MiB versus 941 MiB of RAM at idle. I haven't re-run it
Good to know before you try it: the website is in Vietnamese, and the 2.8 GB ISO is hosted on SourceForge because GitHub limits file size. The site says to check the SHA256 after downloading and to try it from USB first. The code is on GitHub under GPL-3.0.
Maker, if you see this: you can claim this page from the product page on Product Hunt (More, then Claim this page; Product Hunt checks an email address on your product's domain), and I'm glad to help however I can. Which apps would you want in the App Center first?
