Hi everyone,
Often i come across english videos on social media but since i am non english speaker, i find it hard to understand everything being spoken without subtitles. I realised that the problem is similar for people who might encounter web videos which are not in their native language.
To solve this, I have developed an iOS app called Captionix which i recently released on the Appstore. Captionix acts like an accessibility tool which allows you to watch web videos with subtitles in your chosen language.
I am aware there are plenty of video subtitles generator tools but all of them are targeted at content creators to make their video accessible by either generating subtitles in SRT or by burning them directly into the video before being uploaded to the web. Unfortunately not all creators use them and hence many videos across the web today exist without any subtitles. Captionix, on the other hand, is targeted for general video consumers rather than content creators.
You simply share a link to the app using the standard iOS share sheet and the app will try to generate subtitles for it in your selected language. This process takes less than a minute and hence you can watch the video with subtitles quickly without having to leave your app or go to any website. It supports multiple languages and is compatible with popular social media websites. The app also allows you to add your locally stored video from roll so that you can watch them with subtitles.
Give it a try and let me know if you encounter any issues.
