buyworld.app: Buy real buildings.

Hi Product Hunt 👋

I'm Pierre, and I built buyworld.app: a multiplayer game where you buy real buildings on a real map of the world 🌍

Not made-up plots. Your local café, the Eiffel Tower's neighbours, the tower block you grew up in, an airport in Brazil. If it's on the map, you can own it 🏢

Why I built this

I've always loved Monopoly, but I wanted the board to be the whole planet, and I wanted to play it with everyone at once. One evening I asked myself: "What if I could buy my own street?" A few months later, here we are 😄

How it works 🎮

1. Sign in with Google and get starting coins (no wallet, no crypto, no download: it runs in your browser and on your phone).

2. Explore the globe 🔎 Search any city, street or building and zoom right in.

3. Buy a building 🏠 Prices follow the building's real size, so a garden shed is cheap and a skyscraper is not.

4. Collect rent 💰 Every building you own earns coins every second, even while you're away.

5. Reinvest, upgrade and grow ⭐ Upgrade buildings to earn more, then expand street by street.

Become mayor 🏛️

Every big city is painted in the colour of its mayor: the player who owns the most there. Elections happen every day at midnight UK time, so a city can change hands overnight. Tap a painted city to see who runs it, then go and take it from them 😈

Trade with other players 🔨

The Auction House is where the real game happens:

- List your buildings at a fixed price or put them up for auction

- Bid against other players, with live updates when you're outbid

- Make offers on buildings that aren't even for sale

- Watch the market index and the ticker of recent sales 📈

Team up 🤝

Create or join a coalition, climb the coalition leaderboard and aim for a top-three medal 🥇🥈🥉

Something every day 📅

- Daily streak rewards 🔥

- Quests to complete

- Treasure chests to open 🎁

- Airdrops that land on the map ✈️

- Tenants who knock on your door with little events

- Building-count milestones that pay bonuses

Make it yours 🎨

Pick a character, frame your profile picture, and switch the map to different themes. There's an optional VIP pass with extra cosmetics and heat maps, but the game itself is free to play.

Built for everyone, everywhere 🌐

buyworld.app is translated into more than 30 languages. Each one has its own address, so you can share the game with friends in their own language. It works on desktop and phones, and you can turn on notifications so you know when someone outbids you.

A fresh start for launch 🚀

We just reset the whole economy for Product Hunt: everyone starts from zero today. Rent is slower and the game is harder, so being early really counts. No one owns your city yet... 👀

The tech, for the curious 🛠️

- A 3D globe with real building footprints from OpenStreetMap 🗺️

- Runs entirely on Cloudflare Workers + D1, so it's fast everywhere

- Real-time updates: you see planes, other players and sales happening live

- Built solo, with a lot of help from Claude as my coding partner 🤖
