Free Chrome extension that intercepts "Add to Cart" buttons. When you click, a popup asks: "Do you really want this?" Choose to continue, save for later, or leave. Enable extra friction with Box Breathing or Math Mode to slow yourself down even more. Works on all shopping sites. No account. 100% private.

Hey everyone! 👋
I'm Max a behavioral psychologist and designer. Something that always strikes me is how much people buy online. Myself included, lol.
A while ago I build this chrome extension that intervenes when I try to buy something on my laptop and it forces me to think twice before buying. I used it for a few months now and can actually say it saved me a few impulse buys.
The idea is dead simple. You click "Add to Cart" and a popup appears. Continue, save for later, or trash it. That tiny pause is often all you need.
For the really stubborn impulses, I added two extra modes: Box Breathing (a calming exercise) and Math Mode (forces your rational brain to wake up). Sounds silly, but it works.
You can also save products for later if you want to wait a few days and see if you still want the product.
It's free, no account needed, and everything stays on your device. I just want it to help people to stay out of debt and help a little bit towards financial freedom.
Curious to hear if this is useful for you. And if you have ideas to make it better, I'm all ears!

Great execution, the simplicity is what makes it work.
Curious, if its 100% free how do you monetize it?

@matthew_goley hey, I’m not monetizing at all at the moment. Just want to find out for now if people like the app and if it’s useful!
Do you see it working better on desktop shopping vs mobile where most impulse buys happen?

@karimbenkeroum Chrome extensions aren’t available on on mobile.
I looked into Safari extensions which could be a way to apply it to mobile too but only for safari users. Would love to have it on mobile but another difficult thing with mobile is that a lot of purchases are done through mobile apps, so if you have any good ideas I’m all ears! 😄

Building it was already super fun!
