👋 Hello hunters! We hope you are safe in all of this coronavirus mayhem. We are a Brooklyn based art production studio that works with artists on interactive projects. As we found ourselves under a lockdown, we decided to release our latest collaboration, an AI poetry project that we have been working on for several months and we hope you will try, even if for the mere experience of interacting with the mysterious AI. Called Burn Before Reading, the project begins with the offering of 10,000 blockchain-based “fortune cookies.” Opening the fortune cookie unlocks a poem at the moment of opening, generated by an author that is part artificial intelligence, part anonymous artist, known as “Mr. Fox”. Initial cookies are free to claim and each cookie is a unique token on the Ethereum blockchain that can be traded, exchanged, or gifted just as any crypto asset. In order to release the poetry hiding inside the cookie, collectors must destroy it (or “burn” it), rendering it value-less but also offering a piece of invaluable literature to enter the public realm as each fortune is published on Twitter at the moment of opening. As more cookies are opened, the collective of owners will get closer to divining the patterns among Mr. Fox’s prophecies...perhaps illuminating future events. Meanwhile, the remaining unopened cookies might drive speculative demand. As more of the 10,000 cookies are opened and destroyed, the more valuable the remaining unopened cookies might become. The choice between personal gain and shared knowledge is one Mr. Fox deliberately wants collectors to make. Waiting to hear your thoughts.
