My partner and I were at the kitchen table trying to figure out where our money went that month. Two hours in, we were still arguing over a $40 Costco run nobody could remember paying for. That night it hit me: every budgeting app is built for one lonely person staring at one screen. But most of us don’t budget alone — we share rent, groceries, subscriptions, savings goals, and life with someone else.
Splitwise splits but can’t budget. Mint is dead. YNAB feels like filing taxes. Nothing existed for households who actually share their financial life. So I started building the app I wished existed.
Budgii is budgeting built for two (or three, or a whole family) — social transaction feed, per-person spending graphs, built-in settle-up, shared savings goals, Plaid auto-sync, and an AI advisor that actually understands you’re a household, not a solo act.
The journey was humbling. I shipped fast using AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Expo), but the App Store review process beat me up more than once — multiple rejections, late-night refactors, a few “should I even keep going” moments. What kept the product sharp was one rule: every feature had to pass the test of would I personally pay for this? If not, it got cut.
Today Budgii is live and I’d love for the PH community to put it through its paces. Honest feedback welcome (kind ones especially 😅). If it makes “the money talk” easier in your household, that’s the whole win.
