What do you think? …

Kofi Frimpong
I think that description above was put in by Erik mistakenly but here's a blurb. In today's day and age Youtube celebrities are often more recognized than actual Hollywood celebrities. We're taking advantage of this by connecting various Vine, Youtube Instagram and Snapchat celebrities with various brands including mobile apps, startups, artists' music etc. to create engaging content that helps promote these companies. We have a marketplace as well as do customized campaigns and influencers that range from having 50k followers to over 7 million.
Sean Percival
Why are you the right team to be successful here?
Kofi Frimpong
@Percival Yeah Sean. I would love to work with any 500 Startups companies to help them utilize this marketing channel. It's a great way to get exposure especially towards the younger demographic. Before going into credentials, I feel like our team is great for this space because we are in tune with popular culture and trendy topics. These influencers want to work with guys that get it and we "get it". We know what's cool, we know what cool brands to work with, we know trendy terms like "bae" and "shmoney dance" which is why I think we were so quickly able to sign up social media stars even when they were signed up to other platforms. My partner and I have known each other for over 4 years and have experience in working with startups (I was a Business Analyst at Hailo, worked at Lean Startup Machine and various other startups). My business partner is also a hip hop artist/producer who has released music and is familiar with the content creation space. In the past two months when we launched we've closed deals already with numerous brands, have already generated revenue (over 15k) and our influencer reach is over 150 mill across all of our platforms. We are in the process of closing one of our biggest deals which will involve having influencers promote a particular TV show on a nationally based TV network as well. I graduated from Princeton and my partner is a former University of Arizona student.

@Percival Also let me add.. We've had brands create content and pay to have our influencers just repost it, revine it, etc. We've had DJ's get paid to shout out brands. Even comedians at standup shows get free product and paid to incorporate brands into skits. Product placement in music videos as well. We have a big vision.

Just for viewing pleasure here's a campaign we did for Meundies.com on Vine with one of our influencers. Over 2.3 million impressions, 23k likes, and 684 comments. https://vine.co/v/MVKdOTLPWdI
Sean Percival
@TheRealKofi Can you share the cost for a campaign like that? Or a relative comparable?
Kofi Frimpong
@Percival Hey Sean I missed this question.. Marketplace transactions range from $500-$200. Campaigns deals have started at 5k. This cost $1000. Our goal is to have the marketplace transactions running fluidly and then big campaign deals with big brands on the side as well.
Sean Percival
So influencer marketing has become rather competitive recently. What makes your offering unique and/or more enticing to these influencers?
Kofi Frimpong
@Percival Sure. So there are some competitors out there but when you chat with influencers particularly on the platforms I've mentioned they hate having to wait for deals to be presented to them by a company/agent which is typically the case. We really want to continue to build our marketplace to the point where a brand can post an opportunity, an influencer can see this opportunity and bid right away and have a chance to proactively earn income without waiting for anyone else. We are also trying to present them with unique opportunities such as promoting artist music, cause marketing (non profits mainly) and others as well. We even allow for public speaking brandslips so we've had DJs get paid at parties to promote companies.

Question: building an influencer network is time consuming on the front end naturally, but even harder to maintain. Influence waxes and wanes with activity / life changes / etc. How are y'all going to not just build but maintain the quality of the network?
Kofi Frimpong
@borker Thanks for the question Ryan. So every influencer on our platform is vetted/onboarded before being allowed to use the site. A lot of our influencers are young fun creators but have to understand that when dealing brands there's a level of professionalism needed. We really spend time explaining and making sure our influencers understand this. Quite honestly, the reason why we have signed up most of our influencers is really just connecting with them on a personal level and understanding their concerns , needs and maintaining contact.
Sean Percival
What channels do you think represent the best opportunity for brands today? Vine? Pinterest? Myspace (jk)?
Kofi Frimpong
@Percival Vine is incredible.. these celebs have incredibly loyal fans. I've seen an app get 40 cents per download off a campaign there. With only 6 seconds creators are forced to create great content that can keep someone's attention. Plus with the revine feature, content from even a month ago can still be shared today which is guys like Bobby Shmurda have become popular with the Shmoney dance. I also think Snapchat is on the rise. We have influencers that average over 300k views on Snapchat and can also capture an audience's attention especially with limited deals.
Sean Percival
Tell me how you think about attribution and demonstrating ROI to brands for this?
Kofi Frimpong
@Percival Yeah. So some brands are definitely looking for just sales, some for app downloads, some for content to share and others to build up social media following. So we really work hard to make sure that we are helping brands reach their goals. We can give them estimates on impressions they will receive and engagement as well. For companies looking for sales we've been doing test runs with Soldsie (500 startups companies) to help track sales particularly on Instagram. Typically, especially with our big influencers, brands can see a huge difference on their own social media pages and usually gain great fans from this. So overall we measure various aspects and particularly pay attention to brand goals.
