I'm Steve, creator of bopcode. I originally built Bop as a teaching language for a different project. It's a small, purpose-built language designed to make programming concepts easier for beginners. Less confusing syntax. Just the basics. Then I realised Bop has zero external dependencies and can run entirely in the browser without needing a server at all. So I created bopcode.com, a browser-only website with no server, no login, no user accounts at all. Just open the website and start solving puzzles. Each puzzle is a grid where you write Bop code to move a bot, collect gems, unlock doors and reach the goal. The concepts build gradually, and you'll be learning to code in no time while having fun solving the puzzles. There's even a level editor for when you want a little more. You can download levels and share them with friends. My goal is to create something that genuinely helps people to learn to code in a world where AI coding is taking off. AI coding is the future, but it's far more effective in the hands of someone who understands the code. In my view it is still worth learning to code in 2026, even just for the basics, and also learn the AI tooling alongside. You'd be amazed at how quickly you can be creating things and understanding what you build. I'd love to hear any feedback especially from someone just starting out learning to code.
