I’m Brandon, the creator of BookCraftr. I’m both a software developer and an independent author, and the idea for BookCraftr grew directly out of my own experiences publishing books through Amazon KDP.
My usual workflow involved writing a manuscript in Word, moving it into separate formatting software, checking the eBook and paperback versions, generating the correct cover template, designing the cover elsewhere, and then exporting everything for publication. Every tool solved one part of the problem, but the overall process felt fragmented, expensive and unnecessarily complicated.
Finishing the manuscript should have felt like the hardest part was over. Instead, it marked the beginning of a new series of technical challenges. Were the margins correct? Would the chapter headings appear properly? How would the eBook flow on a Kindle? Was the paperback cover the correct size for the chosen trim size and page count? A small change could mean returning to an earlier tool and repeating several steps.
I created BookCraftr to bring that entire process into one place.
With BookCraftr, authors can write or import their manuscript, organise chapters, format the interior, preview both eBook and paperback versions, generate correctly sized cover templates, design a complete cover, and export files ready for Amazon KDP and similar publishing platforms.
My goal was not simply to create another writing app. I wanted to build a practical bridge between finishing a manuscript and publishing a professional book. BookCraftr handles many of the technical details while still giving authors control over how their work looks and feels.
As an independent creator, I’ve built BookCraftr around the real problems I encountered during my own publishing journey. I’m excited to finally share it with other authors, and I’d love to hear your feedback, questions and ideas.
BookCraftr is available with a seven-day free trial, and no credit card is required. I hope it helps make your path from manuscript to published book clearer, faster and far less frustrating.
