Book-Writer-AI — Generate books with AI: AI books with plot, tone controls, and shareable results.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋 Over the last few days, I built Book-Writer-AI: 👉 https://book-writer-ai.com It’s an AI tool that generates full multi-chapter books using Claude 3.5 + OpenAI — but with stronger plot consistency than typical “story generators.” Most AI writing tools try to generate huge chunks of text at once. My experience: that fails quickly. LLMs forget, drift, contradict themselves, and lose tone. So I built a different approach. 🧱 How it works (in human words) Instead of giving the AI one giant prompt, the book is generated in many small, structured “micro-scenes.” To keep the story coherent, I built two SQL-driven components: 1. A global plot structure Acts, arcs, midpoint, climax, resolution — all stored explicitly in SQL. 2. A chapter_parts system Each chapter is broken into micro-scenes with: POV characters setting atmosphere key events target word count tone ratios (tension, dialogue %, pacing, emotion, etc.) These values (0–1) guide the model: “Raise dialogue to 0.7, increase tension, slow the pacing.” It’s a simple idea, but it massively improves consistency. ⚙️ Tech Stack (built fast on purpose) PHP (vanilla) MySQL manually designed schema Redis for queues & job retries Bootstrap frontend Claude 3.5 Sonnet + OpenAI GPT-4.1 Stripe for payments I built it in a few days, keeping the architecture as small as possible. 📚 Books are publicly readable (surprisingly popular) Users can make their generated books visible on the site. This became a great discovery + marketing loop — people browse each others' creations. If you want to read some AI-generated books already published, you can check them on the site. ❗ Limitations (I’m honest about them) Long arcs are still tricky Some narrative drift happens Ratio-based tone control isn't perfect Continuity needs refinement Larger books become more expensive to generate But: it works.
