Boilerplate

Dear designers, This one’s for you! My name is Zach, and I’m a product designer based in Orlando. I love design systems, and somehow keep finding myself building new ones. If you’re anything like me, you know building them from scratch can be tedious. So what do you do? Look for an existing system or kit to start from. But I find both of these include choices you wouldn’t make that now you have to deal with: Too many variables. Too many color styles. Too many variants. Too many weird layers that are there for no reason. And so you find yourself tearing the thing apart or going, “Screw this! I’ll just build it myself.” It’s in these frustrating moments that I think to myself, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place to start, without having to work backwards? Something I can take and build up, instead of break down?” Boilerplate is an attempt to give you exactly that. It’s a Figma library with just enough to get started, without getting overwhelmed by tons of variants, hidden layers, and styles you don’t want. It’s dead simple.
